Entrepreneurship has the potential to play a substantial role in the economic and social growth of a country. Our government continues to focus on bringing women to the fore and making them a significant part of our growth story. Based on the same Pyramid College of Business & Technology under the guidance of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, took an initiative and organized a Women Entrepreneur Development Programme (WEDP) to up bring them for future. The main objectives of the programme is to make women ready for successful startups to increase their contribution to economy and society. Mr. Balbir Singh, Advisor, RCED Chandigarh and Former Vice Chairman NITCON, inaugurated the program. He cleared the basic difference between an employee and entrepreneur. He motivated and encouraged the women students to become an entrepreneur. Further, he added the Government instituted policy measures to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, especially among women.

Day 1


The speaker of the day Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director, PCBT, centered on the entrepreneurship and famous entrepreneurs. He shared that with the spread of education, the status of women in India has also changed and they have shifted from traditional activities to non-traditional higher level of activities, like job making entrepreneurs. The presence of women in business field as entrepreneur has changed the demographic characteristics of business and economic growth of the country. He further discussed essential qualities of an entrepreneur and successful leading women in India as well as abroad.

Day 2


Mr. Navdeep Singh, Head- Management Department, discussed with students the roots of marketing and how its implementation is imperative for the new age entrepreneurs. The session also consisted of many marketing mantras, which are very essential for coming up with a startup in present age. The students shared their own viewpoints and pledged on working on the same.

Day 3


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Ms. Sherry Chalotra, HOD Department of IT, PCBT delivered a lecture on Digital Marketing & various Women Entrepreneurship schemes to the participants.

While addressing she highlighted the growing importance of internet, mobile technology, the evolution of marketing and changes in the various approaches to marketing. She elucidated the role of social media in marketing field.

She briefed about the various schemes for women entrepreneurs which are primarily on financial aid followed by training and skill building of women entrepreneurs and the pros of digital marketing like cost effectiveness, overcoming the place barrier etc.

The increasing job prospects in the field of digital marketing were highlighted. She also explained different digital media used for marketing, their important features and benefits. The talk was well received by the students.

Day 4


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Mr. Kulwinder Padda, Assistant Professor Department of IT, PCBT delivered a lecture on Information Technology’s role in Business to the participants.

While addressing he highlighted that Information technology drives innovation and innovation is the path to business success. Innovation in business has the same impact that steam had on the industrial revolution. He elucidated that it’s hard to imagine any business that has not benefited from the digital revolution. Even something as hands on as agriculture uses computers. Farmers use computers for production records, financial planning, research on technical issues, and procurement.

He further explained that there are few skills that one need to develop to become a successful women entrepreneur that are Networking, Developing Business Plans, sales/marketing and IT operations for global expansion of their business.

He said for an organization to succeed, every department or functional area must work together sharing common information as IT can enable departments to perform their business operations more efficiently and effectively.

Day 5


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director, PCBT delivered a lecture about financial resources, budgeting and importance of money in entrepreneurship.

While addressing he discussed from an economic perspective that financial resources are the part of the business and includes all financial funds that are used to carry out the main operations of the business, like buying goods and services, and to carry out long-term investments. He further added that finance is big necessity and to be effective it is necessary to be good with finance. He shared various resources like, factoring, bank loans, and crowfunding, from which entrepreneurs can arrange the funds.

He summed up by telling the importance of money/finance in entrepreneurship, which helps in decision-making process, as it, is the money only that can meet basic needs, leading towards to high demand.

Day 6


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Mr. Sunny Gulati, Assistant Professor, Management Department, PCBT, delivered a session on “Role of Management in Entrepreneurship and Maintenance of Basic Accounting Books as an Entrepreneur”. The session started with the discussion on various forms of organizations like Sole-Proprietorship, Partnership Firm and Company form and their pros and cons to the entrepreneurs. He further discussed about the upkeep of the basic account books and accounting process starting from Journal, Ledger, Subsidiary Books, and Trial Balance to further Financial Statements of the business.

The entire session was very knowledgeable for the upcoming entrepreneurs in stating and running their business.

Day 7


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Mr. Navdeep Singh Thind, Head- Management Department, PCBT, talked about various investment opportunities and ways of saving for a startup. Various investment opportunities in debt and equity were elaborated.

He further explained the foundation model “Marketing Mix” which is a marketing tool used by firms to pursue its marketing objectives in the target. He added 4Ps Marketing model which is putting the right product, at right place, at the right time, and at the right price. He also explained 7Ps model and at last, he added that if entrepreneurs properly adopt marketing mix it can play an important role in the success of corporate marketing which ultimately would lead towards to success.

The students had many questions out of curiosity to see how money can make money. The session was well received by students.

Day 8


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Ms. Sherry Chalotra, Head-Information Technology, delivered an enlightening lecture on “Search Engine Optimization”. She explored that Search engines provide a way of doing research on the Internet, and they can be effective tools. However, to use them effectively for research, one must be aware of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as how and when to use them. Considering this, she started with various search engines and focused on the way of effective search. She shared the amazing facts of one of the biggest search engine Google. She further discussed the working of Google Search Engine and various products of Google. She summed up with the various do’s and do not’s while searching internet.

Day 9


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director, PCBT conducted the session on role of Human Resource Management & Motivation in organization. He highlighted that Human performance in organizations reflects on the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and values.

Since the abilities and skills will help the organization to better performance and productivity. He said that an HR’s job is to maintain competent personnel good and create relations between them and also providing material and spiritual needs of staff satisfaction that are to be created necessary alignment between their personal goals and objectives of the organization.

He also emphasized on importance of employees and how to take work from employees. He talked about various ways to encourage the employees such as creating a welcoming environment, making them feel valued, giving them more responsibilities, maintaining open communication(be transparent), perks of the job and listen to their needs.

While concluding he said recognition of past successes is a motivator for future progress. Leaders need to be a constant source of motivation. The talk was well received by the participants.

Day 10


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director PCBT, enlightened the participants with the topic how to deliver an effective lecture. He discussed that nowadays lecturing is not limited to academics only; it plays a crucial role in life of an entrepreneur too to disseminate the information to its target audience. He told that in order to deliver a lecture in context to significant theme or problem one should come up with proper planning and preparation.

He further shared the various components that lecture should contain. The session summed up with an activity in which all participants participated with zeal and delivered on spot lectures on topics given to them. The core motto of this activity was to increase the presence of mind to gather the thoughts in short span of time and to increase the confidence of students to speak in front of others.

Day 11


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Head-Hospitality Department delivered a lecture on goal setting. He elucidated the students that setting of one’s goals is the utmost important thing one can do in their life. Goals without direction are the same as without no ambition there is no drive to stay in.

He further explained that most people are unhappy because they don't know where they are going in life, and so their lives lack meaning and purpose. As a result, they lack an inner sense of self-worth, often becoming angry and taking it out on other people. So while setting direction to success one must make good choices on the path that he/she is going to choose.

While concluding the session he said one should learn how to set goals and should start working towards achieving those goals.

The second session was conducted by Mr. Vishal Bal, Head, Animation & Multimedia Department. He took the session on animated & graphics based interactive portfolios which are becoming popular nowadays. He added in his speech that graphics based portfolios come in many different formats which express individuality – that is one of the best things about them. He also emphasized on dynamic entrepreneurship. He summed up his session with the importance of using animated portfolios.

Both sessions were quite interactive and well received by the students.

Day 12


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Mr. Vishal Bal, HoD Animation & Multimedia Department PCBT, shared his views on how to succeed in life. He started with quote that the only real limits on what you can do, have, or be are self-imposed and motivated students to make sky their limit. He elucidated that accomplishment of some great goal needs a positive attitude and thinking as it has capability to take anyone towards success. He further added that a person with positive thinking anticipates happiness, health, success, and he/she can overcome any obstacle in his/her life. He shared the consequences of positive and negative thinking through real world examples. He summed up the session with a tip that to succeed in life it is important to help others to grow.

Mr. Navdeep S. Thind, HoD, Management and faculty members of management arranged management games for the students which were held in the campus lawn where in the students were taught the importance of leadership and team building. There were five games in total, which tested the students for their ability to learn from mistakes and to see the strength of each other and take advantage of it. The students had a fun time and cherished the day. The winners were given prizes by the Director.

Such activities are a boost for the students as it ignites the creativity quotient of the students

Day 13


In continuation of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, Mr. Kulwinder Singh Padda, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology conducted the session on “Work Life Balance: A Modern Women’s Dilemma”.

While addressing he highlighted that a healthy balance between work and home should be a priority for everyone. Achieving work and life balance is a challenge many of us face in our lives as we deal with the competing demands on our time and energy from work, family and other pursuits. Often we do not take time out to consider how we are looking after ourselves, how we are responding to others, and how, or if we are achieving our goals. 

Implementing proper work‐life balance offers many important benefits. There are, however, many hazards linked with an unbalanced work and home life.

While concluding he said Participants should be aware about the key work life balance issues to improve general well-being and coping. It was a great interactive session.

Prof. Jatinder Singh Bedi, Chairman Pyramid College of Business & Technology quoted that woman has been described as the embodiment of Shakti and without them; it is not possible to run a society. He appreciated the effort for the uplifting of women and motivated the students so that they can play an active role in society and economy of country.
